Everything Depends Upon Association

In this harikatha Srila Gurudev emphasizes on how a sadhu can change the mentality of conditioned souls by narrating the incidence of Narad Goswami giving instructions to the sons of Daksha Prajapati. If you may go on associating with worldly people, worldly aptitude will automatically come. Nobody can check it. And if you go on associating with bonafide shuddha bhakta (pure devotees) then aptitude to do bhajan (devotion) will automatically enter in your mind and you will have encouragement to do so. If we do not think about this then our life will be futile.

Importance of Sadhusang

Srila Gurudev narrates in this harikatha about necessity of sadhusang to progress in the devotional life. You cannot see the Supreme Lord with these material eyes. But, you can see the sadhus. They are moving about, just as you are. You can talk with them; you can exchange thoughts with them. You can behave this way with the sadhus. Then, you will be rescued. You cannot see God. This is true but you should give your energy for the service of a true devotee, the sadhu.

Associate with the Sadhus Sincerely

Srila Gurumaharaj instructs us by illustrating few examples explaining on what a real sadhu is and what does it mean by sadhusang. We should not imitate sadhus as to how they sleep, how they sit, how they walk. We will also do like that. This is imitation. Sadhus purpose is only how to satisfy Supreme Lord.

Sadhusang: More Powerful Than Associating With Bhagavān

Associating with women is harmful, but associating with persons addicted to associating with women is more harmful. Similarly, associating with bhaktas of Bhagavān is more powerful than associating with Bhagavān Himself. One attains auspiciousness by associating with Bhagavān, but one attains greater auspiciousness by associating with His bhaktas.
