It is Not Difficult to Serve Supreme Lord Sri Krishna
Harikatha, Sreela Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Goswami Maharaj
Guruji emphasizes on the fact that we do not want Krishna. He says that if we actually want Him then nothing is difficult. Quoting Mahaprabhu’s fourth verse of Sikshashtaka, he instructs us to follow the particular teaching from the core of the heart to receive the actual grace of the Supreme Lord.

Prahlad Maharaj was preaching to others, telling them to worship Sri Krishna. He encouraged them by telling, “It is not difficult, it is very easy.” All the demon boys told him, “We are only five years old. Supreme Lord is so big, and we are only small children. We cannot think about this. How can we worship Supreme Lord?”
Then Prahlad Maharaj told them that it is not difficult to serve Supreme Lord Sri Krishna. Not difficult to serve God. Here in this world it may be difficult, because we want to serve ourselves. We are in service to our own ulterior desires and things of the world, unnecessary things. But actually it is easy to serve Lord; He is residing in your heart. He is dear to all. When He is dear it is not difficult to satisfy Him. There is no need to take so many penances, etc. You can call your father, mother, brother, you can call Krishna. What is the use in complicated methods? You hear about Krishna and chant.
Now you are a small child. No outside bad elements have entered into you. From this boyhood, you should start bhajan, not at the later stage. So many things will come to disturb you. An actual wise person will start bhajan from childhood because Supreme Lord is dear, dearmost to all human beings and nearest. What is the difficulty? You chant, you hear… there is no difficulty. No penance is necessary.
See the contrast in the case of Hiranyakashipu as he performs very powerful penance to become the Lord of the Universe. He did this penance with an evil spirit to become Lord and to lord over others. Nobody had ever heard about such a penance previously, not even Narada Muni. All the demigods were very afraid. Prahlad was a small boy and he did not do such penance. But he is worshiping Krishna always, thinking of him, sometimes dancing, sometimes chanting; sometimes he has ecstatic feelings, all the time thinking about Krishna and nothing else. See the contrast.
He is speaking to the demon boys, how they could become dearest. Those who are very aged, they think they must be experienced in knowledge. What skill did the boys have, what knowledge? They all became devotees and Shanda and Amarka, their Gurudevas, were afraid. They dreamt that devotees will come to them and make them devotees.
Because they are always hearing about Krishna, speaking about Krishna, and remembering about Krishna, they engaged everything for Krishna, and always Krishna is there. Krishna will give all bliss, knowledge, and all existence—all good. Nothing bad will come. No ulterior things can come. And Shanda and Amarka, the sons of Sukracharya they are afraid. If they remain with demon boys they will come in contact with devotees. Even though they were gurus, they were afraid.
Nothing is difficult if we actually want Krishna. Actually we do not want Krishna. Krishna wants us any way. You go through the fourth verse of Sikshashtaka of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. He is Krishna Himself. By outside external form is Radha, but He is Krishna Himself. What has he said? He said, “You say from the heart. Do not blame Me. Say from the heart: na dhanaṁ na janaṁ na sundarīṁ kavitāṁ vā jagadīśa kāmaye mama janmani janmanīśvare bhavatād bhaktir ahaitukī tvayi.”
Say from the heart, not from the mouth. Supreme Lord will not give any value to the words, he will give value to your thought, your thinking. What are you thinking? He will see your heart.
Say from the heart, “O Lord, I do not want money.” We are afraid of speaking like this. We are afraid to say, “Swamiji has said I do not want money, but yes, I do want it.” We do not say from heart. We say some money is required, without money how can we live? Without money, there will be inconvenience. O Supreme Lord, give me one million and after that I do not want. This sort of weakness is there. We do not want Krishna.
Krishna is the absolute. He is the complete reality, everything is there and what are we asking from Supreme Lord, from a millionaire, billionaire? We are asking one dollar. Prahlad is saying, “Oh, you fool, you are asking Supreme Lord to give you some money? You are foolish. If you get Krishna, you get all.”
What is this? Why are you making this? We say, Oh, our surroundings are bad. Because of our karma, we have got this environment. Don't blame others. We did something in our previous birth, so God gives environment, atmosphere is such. Don't blame others, you have to rectify yourself. If you do this, then Supreme Lord thinks, yes, they want Me. Then He will take you, all His devotees will take you. They will place you in an environment congenial for devotion, you will get everything. But we have to be sincere, sincerely pray: I do not want money, from here (he spoke patting on his heart). Say it: I don't want money. (You will not die.) I don't want money, I don't want manpower, wife or children. Say from the heart, not from the mouth.
Say from the heart: na dhanaṁ na janaṁ na sundarīṁ kavitāṁ vā jagadīśa kāmaye mama janmani janmanīśvare bhavatād bhaktir ahaitukī tvayi. With every thought, I want causeless devotion to You, causeless devotion, and pure devotion, nothing else.
