Birth Centennial Annual of Om Vishnupad 108 Sri Srimad Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Goswami Maharaj, Acharya of Sree Chaitanya Gaudiya Math (Regd.)

It is my advice that it will be good for you not to take any decision by your own initiative. You should continue to pray for the grace of guru, vaiṣṇavas, personal associates of Gaurāṅga Mahāprabhu such as the six Goswāmīs and especially Nityānanda Prabhu and Gaurāṅga Mahāprabhu. Depend on Them absolutely and I am sure They will do whatever is beneficial for your eternal welfare. They are All-Merciful and All-Powerful.

      Vast Ocean of Mercy

This is the English translation of the lecture delivered by Śrīmad Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura Prabhupāda on the 14th disappearance anniversary of Saccidānanda Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura at Jagannātha Purī in 1928. Srila Prabhupad explains on how the vaiṣṇavas are vast oceans of mercy (kṛpā-sindhu). They bestow absolute mercy without ever being asked for it. They are the redeemers of the fallen (patitapāvana). Vaiṣṇavas are the only our true kinsmen. Apart from taking shelter of them, no other remedy exists. Vaiṣṇavas never die; they are immortal. They are with Bhagavān, participating in His eternal pastimes. Their only activity is to serve Śrī Kṛṣṇa. While they are manifest in this world, Kṛṣṇa-sevā is their only activity, and when they depart, Kṛṣṇa-sevā is their only, eternal activity.

      Śrī Puruṣottama Dāsa Ṭhākura

I worship my worshipable lord, Puruṣottama Dāsa Ṭhākura. Who can list his incomparable qualities? He was merciful to those who were devoid of virtue, displaying the natural power of his compassion. When only seven years old, he was so intoxicated with love for Kṛṣṇa that he danced in a way that enchanted the entire world.

Prabhupāda Śrīla Bhakti Siddhānta Sarasvatī Gosvāmī Ṭhākura

Śrīla Bhakti Siddhānta Sarasvatī Gosvāmī Ṭhākura was born in the holy pilgrimage place of Jagannātha Purī to Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura, a great Vaisnava acarya in the line of succession coming from Sri Caitanya Mahāprabhu. Although employed as a government magistrate, Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura worked tirelessly to establish the teachings of Lord Caitanya in India. He envisioned a worldwide spiritual movement and prayed for a son to help him achieve his dream.

In the initial part of the harikatha Srila Gurudev narrates how Srila Param Gurudev acquired the appearance place of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur at Puri-dham. Then he narrates the incidence of Lord Jagannath staying three days in front of Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur’s house at Puri when Srila Saraswati Thakur was of six months. He also narrates how Srila Saraswati Thakur approached Srila Gaura Kishor Das Babaji repeatedly for accepting him as his Gurudev.

      Śrīla Narottama Dāsa Ṭhākura

When Mahāprabhu passed through Kanair Natshala, as He was dancing ecstatically in kīrtana, He began to call out Narottama’s name. When Nityānanda Prabhu asked Him why He was calling out this name, Mahāprabhu answered, “My Lord, You do not know Your own glories. On Your way to Jagannātha Purī, You shed tears out of divine love, day after day. I managed to capture Your divine love and save it. Now I wish to place it here by the Padmāvatī River in safe keeping for Narottama Dāsa.”

      Hy Utkale Purushottamat

Srila Bhaktisiddhant Saraswati Thakur Prabhupad was a great acharya of the Gaudiya Vaishnav Sampradaya and its only protector, the ninth in descent from Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, and the best of the followers of Sri Svarupa Damodar and Sri Rupa Goswami. He is like the sun of the Gaudiya sampradaya. He has shown the path of the bower where Sri Gauranga resides and illuminated it by the lamp of devotion to the ears of eternally conditioned souls like us.

A Lecture by Srila Prabhupad on His Vyasa Puja

Sri Guru’s lotus feet are eternal. May I never undergo an interruption of relationship with his lotus feet, even for a single moment. May I be never loosened, even for a moment, from the bond that unites me to his lotus feet. May I never for a moment quit my hold of his lotus feet by being tempted by any fascination of this world. May I never be deprived of His lotus feet by listening to the advice of any other, worthless person.

        Srila Prabhupad’s Final Instructions

May all of you work unitedly and in harmony toward the same goal: to earn the right to serve the root āśraya-vigraha. May the current of ideas propagated by Sri Rupa Gosvāmī flow throughout the world. May we never under any circumstances become indifferent to the seven-tongued sacrificial flame of the Holy Name. If our attraction to it remains ever-increasing, we will achieve all perfection. Remain one pointedly faithful to Sri Rupa Gosvāmī’s followers and preach Rupa-Raghunath’s message enthusiastically and fearlessly.

The Supreme Lord Is Not An Object Of Our Vision

You gave me the Tulsi beads so I could offenselessly take the holy name. But alas, I am still indifferent to that. My worshipable Godbrothers, who are all my well-wishers, have set such examples for me by their own actions, but I was not inspired by that. I do not have the desire to take the holy name, what to speak of having love for the holy name.

In this he pays obeisances to his Gurudev who is the embodiment of Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu’s gospel, the deliverer of the fallen and the destroyer of the darkness of unorthodox doctrines which oppose the conclusions given by Sri Rupa Goswami and his followers.

          Financial Difficulty

We are to accept that which is congenial and give up that which is not congenial for worship of Krishna; we should have firm faith that He is the only sustainer and protector; we are to dedicate ourself totally to the Lotus Feet of Krishna; and be humble by giving up all false material egos.

Just by Remembering Him, One Becomes Free From Millions of Births

Mahārāja also explained that only when a pure devotee is giving prasādam, whether or not it was formally offered to Kṛṣṇa with mantras and everything. If you do that you offer the formal mantras and go near the altar and all that, you still don’t know if Kṛṣṇa has eaten it. But when a pure devotee hands prasādam, you know Kṛṣṇa has eaten it even if it wasn’t offered to him, it was just handed to the pure devotee.
