    Nirjala Ekadashi

Veda Vyasa Muni told Bhima that if you follow Ekadashi-vrata then you will achieve heavenly planets and if not you will have to go to hell. Such temptations are given in the scriptures to attract ordinary people to follow these vows. Veda Vyasa Muni knows everything. Can he give impetus for getting temporary benefits?

Srila Gurudev highlights the significance of observing the Ekadashi-vrata through bhajan, emphasizing its numerous benefits compared to bhajan on other days. He underscores the importance of observing Ekadashi in Bhagwat Dham. He recounts the story of Ambarish Maharaj, who observed Ekadashi for an entire year while residing in Mathura. He concludes by stating Mahaprabhu's teaching to perform Harinam Sankirtan and urging devotees to observe Ekadashi near the Supreme Lord, avoiding sins and material pleasures.

      Śrī Gaṅgāmātā Gosvāmīni

Devotees of Kṛishna may be born in any race, in any caste, or indeed in either sex. They are to be considered the best of all and worshipable by all. Ganga Mata Gosvāmīni is a perfect example of that. There are many examples of women who attained the supreme achievement of pure devotional service to the Lord, such as the wives of the Vedic Brahmins in Dvapara yuga who due to their pure bhakti ignored the orders of their husbands and went forward to serve Kṛishna.

      Śrī Baladeva Vidyābhūṣaṇa

Śrī Baladeva Vidyābhūṣaṇa Prabhu was ordered by Śrī Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura to go to Jaipur where he prayed to Rūpa Gosvāmī’s Govindajī deity for the authorization to write a commentary on the Vedanta-sutra. He then composed the Govinda-bhāṣya and took it to Galta where he defeated the other sampradāyas in debate, preserving the reputation of the Gaudiya school. After this episode, he was given the title Vidyābhūṣaṇa.

      Writing Govinda-bhāṣya

By the blessings of Sri Guru, Vaishnavas and the Lord, even the impossible becomes possible. Baladeva Vidyabhushan Prabhu undertook the writing of comments to the 500 sutras of the Brahmasutra with the subtle aspects of the divine aesthetics as revealed in the pure devotional line of Gaudiya Vaishnavas philosophy, completing it in the limited time given to him. When he went to Galta, the scholars of the other sampradayas were astonished to hear his commentary, which has the highest divine sentiment.

      Bhakti-yoga: The Topmost Yoga

Srila Bhakti Siddhant Saraswati Prabhupad says, "According to Srimad Bhagavatam, the persons who have accepted karma-yoga or gyan-yoga, they are on the wrong path. They can get dharm (so called piety), artha (material wealth), kama (fulfilment of material desires) or moksha (salvation) but not the service of Supreme Lord. We are eternal servant of Supreme Lord and we can regain our position only by bhakti-yoga. Bhakti is the eternal function of pure souls. If we regain our real position, then we have the chance of dissociating ourselves from the world."

Then, giving scriptural evidences, he vividly explains Bhagavat-tatva. He sings the glories of Srimad Bhagavatam and names Srimad Bhagavatam Himself as Bhakti-yoga. Later, he narrates the discussion between Videha Raj Nimi and Navayogendra, the nine sons of Rishabha Deva. And at the end, he concludes the harikatha by describing Mahamatra of all the four yugas and strongly emphasizing on chanting of the Mahamatra to be the only path of getting the ultimate objective Krishna-prema.

        Who is Eligible for Bhakti-yoga?

In the initial part of harikatha, Srila Gurudev describes about śreyaḥ-mārg and preyaḥ-mārg. Then quoting the statements of Srimad Bhagavatam, he narrates about the eligibility criteria stated by Supreme Lord Krishna for the paths of karma, gyāna and bhakti. Indifference to the worldly pleasures gives eligibility for gyāna-mārg whereas the only eligibility for bhakti-mārg is the natural inclination of a person for hearing and chanting the glories of Supreme Lord. He concludes the topic by narrating the commentary of Bhaktivinoda Thakur on viṣayā vinivartante verse and explains how one can progress gradually on the path of devotion.

Karma, Jñāna and Bhakti According to Bhagavad-Gītā

Among all kinds of yogīs, one who, while concentrating his mind on Me, worships Me—My eternal, transcendental form—with firm faith and devotion is the highest yogī. Hence, the bhakti-yogī is the highest among yogīs.

The scriptures, as well as our predecessor acaryas, have advised us to give up karma(fruitive activity), jñana(knowledge), yoga(meditation), tyaga(renunciation), vrata(accepting vows) and tapasya(practising austerities), and have advised us to practice only harinama.

A votary, to satisfy Chaitanya Mahāprabhu and the Supreme Lord Śrī Krishna, should at least practice the first and third verses of Śikṣāṣṭaka sincerely from the core of the heart. Chaitanya Mahāprabhu has taught in the first verse, mainly seven principal attainments or more correctly all attainments while doing Śrī Rādhā-Krishna sankīrtan.

His kīrtana is Only for Bhagavan’s Pleasure

Krishna is telling Narada Goswami ‘mad-bhaktā yatra gāyanti tatra tiṣṭhāmi nārada’ (Padma Puran). 'Wherever My devotees assemble and sing the glories of My Name, Form, Attributes, Pastimes and Personal Associates is the place that I stay.' Also, Srila Gurudev would refer to Sri Vyasa Deva’s pastime of attaining eternal bliss after he wrote Srimad Bhagavatam exclusively for the pleasure of the Lord on the advice of his Guru Narada Goswami. Here Srila Bhakti Kushala Padmanabha Maharaj is affectionately remembering the same teaching of Gurudev through his kirtans and harikatha. that all the limbs of devotion should be performed with the sole purpose of propitiating the Supreme Lord and nothing else.
