Birth Centennial Annual of Om Vishnupad 108 Sri Srimad Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Goswami Maharaj, Acharya of Sree Chaitanya Gaudiya Math (Regd.)

There is no existence of suffering. This is like a dream. When we forget our relationship with Sri Krishna, we become a victim of suffering. A realized soul has constant remembrance of Sri Krishna, so he is beyond this dream.

      Śrī Puruṣottama Dāsa Ṭhākura

I worship my worshipable lord, Puruṣottama Dāsa Ṭhākura. Who can list his incomparable qualities? He was merciful to those who were devoid of virtue, displaying the natural power of his compassion. When only seven years old, he was so intoxicated with love for Kṛṣṇa that he danced in a way that enchanted the entire world.

      Śrī Rasikānanda Deva Gosvāmī

Rasikānanda Deva Gosvāmī fully committed himself in body, mind, and soul to the service of his guru. Indeed, he served him so well that in a short time, he was recognized as Śyāmānanda Prabhu’s chief disciple, a very powerful preacher, and Acharya himself. It is a truism that a good disciple becomes a good teacher.

      Śrī Jagannātha Dāsa Bābājī Mahārāja

When Bihari Dās, Jagannātha Dāsa Bābājī Mahārāja’s servant carried him in the wicker basket to the birthplace of Chaitanya Mahāprabhu, Bābājī Mahārāja got out of the basket and began to dance madly, singing the names Jaya Sachinandana Gaura-Hari. Everyone was amazed to see the old bābājī dance in this way. Through his divine vision, Bābājī Mahārāja pointed out the site of Mahāprabhu’s birth and then later Khola-bhangar Danga, the site where the Kazi broke a mridanga, i.e. Srivasa Angan.

      Glories of Lord Shiva (Hindi)

Srila Gurudev explains Shiva-tatva in detail and the mood with which Vaishnavas worship Shiva. Giving evidence from Srimad Bhagavatam, he states that Shiva is the topmost amongst all the Vaishnavas. He also instructs us to pray to Shiva to get entrance in the Dham (the abode of Supreme Lord) as he is the protector of all of the Dham and without his permission no one can enter in Dham. He advises us not to lose the opportunity to pray Shiva on the Holy Shivaratri Tithi which is very dear to him. His grace can award us Krishna-bhakti.

      Prabhupada’s Advance Man

Srila Gurudev sings the glories of his Gurudev thus: Srila Gurudev’s single-minded allegiance to his spiritual master is an example to be followed by everyone. Srila Gurudev’s entire being—his meditation, his thoughts, his japa, everything was fully devoted for fulfilling Srila Prabhupad’s desires. Srila Prabhupad generally sent Srila Gurudeva as the advance man to do the groundwork for various events. He had complete faith that whatever task he gave him would be carried out to completion. Srila Prabhupad used the words ‘Volcanic Energy’ to describe Srila Gurudeva’s unflinching resolve, application and success in all endeavors entrusted to him.

        Srila Prabhupada’s Confidential Associate

Srila Prabhupada said to Srila Paramgurudev (Srila Bhakti Dayita Madhav Goswami Maharaj), “Your service to your spiritual master and all its details are your responsibility alone. You should be grateful if anyone else contributes to it in any way. Krishna’s ‘major domo’ is Srimati Radhika. She knows that She alone is entirely responsible for Krishna’s pleasure. If anyone comes forward to help Her, She is filled with gratitude.”

        Srila Param Gurudev’s Last Instructions

In the Gaudiya sampradaya, in the lineage of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, in the religious tradition of devotion to Krishna, dedicated devotees worship Krishna exclusively. If you put other gods and goddesses on the same level as Krishna, you are making a mistake. Don’t forget this. Not all gods and goddesses are equal, nor all avataras of Viṣṇu.

        Amara Bhajan (My Devotional Practices)

Although I used to sing the glories of Sree Hari, Guru and Vaiṣṇavas daily, now within my mind I consider myself non-different from them, i.e. equal to them. I am gradually trying to assume their position and I cherish the desire to attain the world, Vaiṣṇavas and Sree Bhagavān as my servants. My object of worship is my whimsical nature rather than Sree Krishna. In public gatherings, I never fail to collect fame as a great Vaiṣṇava by openly declaring myself the servant of the servant of Sree Hari, Guru and Vaiṣṇavas.

        Amar Jivan Sada Pape Rata

Srila Bhakivinoda Thakur, to teach the conditioned souls like us on how to confess all our bad qualities to Guru, Vaishnava and Bhagavan, has composed this kirtan. Out of a great humility he says, my life is full of sins only. There is not even a trace of good activities in my life. Srila Param Gurudev, fully absorbed in the mood of Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur, has sung this Kirtan.

Prabuddha Muni replied, ''Human beings in this world first start acting by singular effort, then continue the same with wife and later on with increased numbers of family members, by procreating children, to remove afflictions and get happiness, but the consequence is reverse. They can neither remove afflictions nor get happiness. The cause of this nescience is that they have forgotten their eternal master and are infatuated by the illusory energy and as such, wrongly think themselves to be masters and enjoyers of this world and want to lord it over others and enjoy.''

We are to accept that which is congenial and give up that which is not congenial for worship of Krishna; we should have firm faith that He is the only sustainer and protector; we are to dedicate ourself totally to the Lotus Feet of Krishna; and be humble by giving up all false material egos.

Just by Remembering Him, One Becomes Free From Millions of Births

Mahārāja also explained that only when a pure devotee is giving prasādam, whether or not it was formally offered to Kṛṣṇa with mantras and everything. If you do that you offer the formal mantras and go near the altar and all that, you still don’t know if Kṛṣṇa has eaten it. But when a pure devotee hands prasādam, you know Kṛṣṇa has eaten it even if it wasn’t offered to him, it was just handed to the pure devotee.
